Description: In this workshop, Debbie Levitt, CEO of As Was (an eBay Certified Provider since 2004), will take a look at one listing from workshop participants, and offer free advice on how to make that listing more likely to make a sale. She'll be looking at design, layout, pictures, description, policies, and more ingredients that go into converting shoppers into buyers.

Reply to Ginger: The link posted for As Was--www.aswas.com--results in a blank page with a bounceback message. Does that mean this discussion is not appropriate for people like us who need to figure out how to list the items they want to sell on eBay in the first place?
Could you check Item #370076257950. We have been getting a lot of messages about no sale and revising the item...but we don't know what kind of revision would be more effective.
Hi; I have just been trying to get a visitor counter made available or find out how I can have one placed at the bottom of my ebay store main page so I can see how many people are visiting my store. This seems to me to be a no-brainer and neccessary to to guage management etc.. John 13stealhome2008
mmmjcoz, same to you that I'm saying to everybody else. Don't design info, edit things way down. No red text, no all caps. A jerk will be a jerk even if you write in red text. But I'm not a jerk. Treat me well. Don't yell at me!
Break out policy sections so I quickly know what's shipping-related and what's payment or something else. Make this easy for me! I don't like to read. Nobody does!

Hi Debbie, Just about forgot this, so glad you posted it on facebook!
I have about 15 dozen fishnet pantyhose that I need to move. I've had these listed for over 6 months and I've only sold 1 dozen so far. I think if I sold them used I would probably make more money and sell much faster but I'm not really interested in drawing that sort of customer, lol.
The item number is 230357459797
any help would be appreciated.
thanks, Vicki See My ebay Store, while it lasts... but I keep buying more stuff!
smoke-free is only important if I might have the expectation that something has been used. If you are offering something new, my natural expectation is that it is fresh and clean.
Smoke-free tells me that you sell from home and leave things around the house. If that's the message you want me to get, that's fine.

treasure-nook, same for you that I'm telling everybody else. Don't centre everything. Use colours that are easy to read. Don't use Comic Sans. No scrolling gallery at the top. It's a distraction.
Best to be obvious and put shipping pricing and policies right in the listing. Many people do not know to find them in eBay's shipping tab.

stainedglasskarin, same thing I'm saying to everybody else. Don't design your info. Think about a real design. If you're underlining feedback, it looks like a link... so link it!
Detail shipping policies since many people don't see where eBay puts them.

This workshop is for everyone, but eBay sellers who are already selling and have eBay items and Stores for Debbie to review will gain the most insight from this workshop.
Since you are a new eBay seller, you may want to read through a previous workshop we held for new sellers and how to find items around your house to sell on eBay.
I do sell from my home office, but my ebay items are stored in a room away from dust, etc. in plastic bins. I do not always know the source of what I am selling and everything I sell is clean and used.
How would you word that in a listing for best results?
a_royal... Same thing about not designing your info... see post 8 here.
Background is a little distracting, I'd make it lighter.
Way too wordy... consider editing your info and policies. People don't read unless it's short and easy. Shipping policies first! They make or break sales, and affect DSRs.
The design is OK, but it's really just the top. I'd like to see you carry the theme on throughout the listing to keep me interested!

Is there an quick and easy way to put all your pictures in the gallery picture as I see others do? It would be nice if eBay offered this as an option. It makes alot of sense that lookers could see several pictures as part of the one gallery picture. Thanks.
smack-tom, your dot com breaks an eBay rule. I'd remove that.
Shipping policies first. Smaller font. I like the writing style. Why not carry that into a design? You have a real mood, but it only lives in words. Many of us hate words.
But I like where you're going.

anything specific when you say "professional design"? I did not realize that websites were against ebay policy as I have seen it in other seller's ads. Is there any information I am lacking?
suitcase-treasures, I knew what your listing would look like once my browser asked me to set cookies for Sellers Source Book.
Too visually busy and distracting for no good reasons. The dots are more prominent than your item. Your design should not fight your item for eyeball time.
And read posts 8 and 14. Don't design info. No comic sans. don't centre everything, shipping policies first...
And severely edit your text to only what I need to make or break the sale. REmove "thanks for looking" and other things that don't really help me want to buy this right now!!

bevsthis, same thing I am telling everybody else. This design is busy and distracting. Very narrow.
Don't centre everything, shipping policies first, confused how you have a bunch of policies, then pics, then MORE policies. I don't want to read all that! super editing. Get out your machete!!!
Love the measurements. Those and your nice pics are saving the day here.

A suggestion: it would be helpful if you would include the item number in your critiques so the participants don't have to go back and find the seller id and then the item number. Thanks. Jim mmmjcoz
