Host: eBay Staff Date: Thursday 05/22 Time: 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. Pacific Time Location:Workshop Board
Description: International selling is becoming increasingly important for the eBay community, especially as currency fluctuations continue and there are more buyers looking for international items. Join this workshop and learn about the new feature we just launched, the International Site Visibility listing upgrade, which gives sellers the option to list the same item on secondary eBay country site to get even more international exposure. We'll also talk about all of the other existing ways in which you can get international visibility for your items.
Please note: This workshop was originally scheduled for Wednesday, May 7 and had to be rescheduled.

Let me introduce myself. I've been a regular on the Canadian boards for the past 6+ years, but I'm not often on the US boards.
I work as a product manager for eBay Canada, based out of Toronto, and I was part of the team that developed this new International Site Visibility feature.
Great question. There are a lot of menus and options in Turbo Lister!
You'll find the feature when you are creating a listing or editing listing. It is located in the Listing Upgrades module, as well as on the Listing Upgrades pop-up menu.
This is the same area where features such as Bold, Highlight, and Featured Plus are offered.
Is it part of the Sell Your Item form? I have relisted some items and looked for the feature by editing the listing and could not find it. Is there a setting that needs to be changed, perhaps in Preferences?
It is supported in Sell Your Item and Revise Your Item. You'll find it on the Review Your Listing Page, below where features such as Bold, Highlight and Featured Plus are offered.
I have had trouble with categories and finding the listing feature, are there specific approved/not approved categories? maybe a list or something to go off of?
There are a few conditions that need to be met in order for it to appear:
1. You must be listing in a category where the feature is supported (more on that in a sec).
2. You must have 10 feedback or more.
3. You must have indicated that you will ship your item to the UK specifically, or to Europe, or to Worldwide. (It is also HIGHLY recommended that you include a shipping cost that applies to either UK, or Europe, or Worldwide, or else you'll be bottom-sorted in the UK's Best Match sort).
4. You must be PayPal Verified.
5. The listing cannot be Store Inventory, or a Live Auction.
My apologies... I received an update from the development team that it was already live, but it would appear it is not. I'm just downloading it now myself.
Let me make a couple of calls here while I am chatting and see if I can clear up when it will be live.
This is Dan Serpico from eBay's Cross Border Trade Team - thanks for joining the discussion.
Don't hesitate to ask ANY questions you might have.
Re: the question about adding other formats like Stores... While we have only launched this upgrade for Auction and Buy It Now listings, we plan to observe the overall adoption and interest from our sellers over over the next several months, and we hope to be able to add more countries and more formats in the future.
I think it is a good idea and would like to see it spread beyond the english language sites as we already do a lot of international business.
My only fear is that anything less than a perfect five star feedback rating will lower our sort order in best match. International shipping takes longer and costs more.
One could say this new best match policy will reduce, not increase, the number of sellers willing to ship internationally.

As a Canadian product manager, I spend a lot of time thinking about cross border trade because it is a huge part of our business. Let me share my outlook...
Thanks for holding this workshop. Sorry did you mentioned the new feature includes Canada also, I only see it for UK. Second question, what other things can I do besides adding Worldwide shipping and opting for this new feature to increase my international exposure. Thanks!
We know that more inventory is good for buyers, but where cross border inventory is concerned, it can detract from the buyer experience if cross border items crowd out relevant local items too much.
We hope that by using Best Match and features such as this one we are talking about today effectively, we can leverage sellers to help us to identify which items are more relevant in a cross border buying scenarios.
Essentially, if we help buyers find great local items, as well as relevant items that add to the total abundance and choice in a positive way, then buyers will buy more. That means more domestic sales and more international sales.
That's our perspective in Canada. (Of course, Canadian items show up on eBay.com without this fee, and US items show up on eBay.ca, and we're keen to keep it that way).
