I sell internal engine parts and have noticed many either are not in the catalog or may list engines that are not applicable. Is this a general problem or a eBay problem?

eseller956, Trim is optional, with only Year, Make and Model being required. Other optional fields include Engine Type and various others specific to the part (i.e., radius or tread for tires).

It's important to remember that including Parts Compatibility details in any category in which they are supported is very important to maximize listing visibility in search. eBay provides very helpful details about Parts Compatibility here.

Our tool, using the aforementioned (first) automated option is dependent on the completeness and accuracy of the eBay catalog. I would expect this data to become more sufficient as time goes on and more sellers use this feature and eBay continues its commitment to the feature by rolling it out to more categories..

I have seen where the catalog is driven by Activant, which supplies some major retailers. From what I have been able to verify we are not seeing everything they have available. Do you know if the eBay is working to fill holes?

Hello Excesssautoparts, To address your question regarding Activant, eBay does support all parts info within Activant. There are a few caveats – First, if the part fits more than 1,000 year/make/models we exclude it due to internal capacity limitations. Second, we have gone to a quarterly update process and therefore have not uploaded new parts from Activant since the June release. Third, we excludes some products that are only sold through specific retailers that wouldn’t be on eBay. Please let me know if there are specific parts you are looking for and I can do a bit of digging to find more information.
